.... Guinea Pig Rescues ......
Cavy rescues take in guinea pigs that are in need of
a home. Some rescues never re-home a guinea pig once it comes into their
care. Instead they accept donations from people or fund raise to support
the guinea pigs
in their care. Other rescues do re-home guinea pigs unless they have major health
problems.
Guinea pig rescues all over the UK are snowed under with guinea pigs looking for new and loving homes. Some through a change in their owner's circumstances but more often because the guinea pig was bought on impulse from a pet superstore for the children who are now bored with it. Sometimes too owners realise too late that they or one of their family is allergic to guinea pigs. Another reason for guinea pigs bought at pet superstores being re-homed is because the "two girls" were one of each and the family don't want to cope with a heavily pregnant guinea pig or her litter Guinea pig rescues also get called upon by the RSPCA to take in guinea pigs from bad breeders or irresponsible owners. Either way it is not uncommon for rescues to have both pedigree and baby guinea pigs as well as bonded male pairs ready to be re-homed.
There are a lot of unwanted guinea pigs sitting in cavy rescues awaiting good homes. A list of guinea pigs looking for new homes can be found at Guinea Pig Rehome and from there you will be able to track down not only guinea pig rescues in your area but also check out the guinea pigs looking for new homes. Many cavy rescues will also be available for ongoing advice and support, as well as boarding. Good general rescue and re-homing sites include UK Animal Rescuers and Give Us A Home

If you don't have a web site, or simply want one on this cavy rescue site, then tick the box on the Membership Application Form when you sign up for your free Directory page.
If you are a cavy rescue you can have your own free mini web site on this site, www.cavy-rescue.co.uk, which you can edit yourself at any time. The advantage of having a site on www.cavy-rescue.co.uk is that search engines look for the words people search for in the web site domain name. This index page has also been optimised for search engines looking for cavy rescues. In addition Belinda will install anything else a cavy rescue wants on their site including an online shop if required.
